Still the most common entry point for Sydney homes, a 6.6kW system (typically 13–16 panels depending on panel wattage) suits smaller households with moderate daytime usage, or homes with limited north or west-facing roof space. It's also the size most closely aligned with the maximum single-phase inverter export limits many Sydney network areas allow without additional approval, which keeps the installation process simpler.
For larger households, homes with pool pumps, ducted air conditioning, or families planning to add an EV, 10kW has become the new practical "default" for many of our Sydney clients. It generates enough surplus during the day to properly charge a DC-coupled battery like a Sigenergy or Sungrow system to full most days of the year, even through Sydney's cooler winter months.
13kW systems suit larger homes, multi-generational households, or properties with home offices and higher daytime baseload.
